Start

1:10
When the Japanese company Tamiya in 1982 launched its first Mini4WD she did not plan to create such a huge line. New Mini4WD were created as miniature replicas, large expensive radio-controlled cars produced at the time Tamiya. Success came for many reasons, one of which - the low price in comparison with the radio-controlled models. Buyers were not only passionate collectors, but also children who have become available, these models.

Two years later, Tamiya has released a new range of SUVs: Comical Mini4WD. They differed from Mini4WD 82-year shorter wheelbase, large wheels and a body that was "flattened" in length.

In the '89 model was released Toyota Land Cruiser Paris-Dakar chassis was identical to the first model, but had a much larger diameter wheels

In 1995, Tamiya has modified their jeeps Mini4WD: new, modern body were placed on the modified chassis (new motor mount, hexagonal axis, more powerful gear ratio, worm gear new design)

In 1987 came the biggest, most powerful off-road series Wild Mini4WD. These Monster Trucks had a huge air-filled tires and a gear ratio of 60:1. These models are still popular with children, because who does not want to hold the Monster Truck in the hands.

Mini 4WD - History of a legend

But back in 1986, it was in this year Tamiya released what it was 20 years later, she is haunted. The success of that acquired Mini4WD jeeps for the first 4 years of production has led to the idea to release Tamiya Mini4WD-based radio-controlled buggy that were then in vogue, and also had great success. So in 1986, have been commercialized first 4 Racing Mini4WD:

The Hornet Jr (May 1986)
Hot Shot Jr (June 1986)
The Fox Jr
The Boomerang Jr

These early models used a Type 1 chassis, which has been very stable, but did not give in tuning the later chassis. Type 1 was relatively heavy and had a gear ratio 6,4:1 11,2:1 or that are useful for off-road use. It did not have a low center of gravity (low center of gravity is important to get the stability of the car).
